Artist Spotlight 014 - juujuumama

The Artist Spotlight series is back with Edition 14. This time, we’re featuring Sierra Renee, better known online as juujuumama. An amazing artist whose work blends surreal, transformation, crystal inspired worlds. From physical collage and acrylic painting to AI driven digital work and NFTs tied to real world utility through her crystal shop, Good Juu Juu, juujuumama brings a fresh perspective to what art can be both onchain and offline.

SVS:

So what’s your name, and what do people know you as online?

JUUJUUMAMA:

My name is Sierra Renee, but most people know me as juujuumama.

SVS:

So juujuumama, when did you first get into art?

JUUJUUMAMA:

I’ve been making art for as long as I can remember. I started with paint, construction paper, glue, and made a collage. And those are still some of my favorite ways to create physically, especially acrylic on canvas and collage.

SVS:

I think that is awesome. You just did it. It shows that you have raw talent. But, what was the catalyst or moment that pushed you to take it seriously?

JUUJUUMAMA:

When people started asking if they could buy my work. Whether it was prints or canvases, that’s when it clicked that I was creating something people valued.

SVS:

Nice! You were gaining a following in real life, and then it clicked this is really a thing! It just seems like those moments where everything just kind of came together. What themes or ideas tend to show up most in your work?

JUUJUUMAMA:

My work explores identity, softness, transformation, and emotional honesty.

Visually, I’m most known for crystal-inspired surrealism, reimagining everyday objects and pushing them into something more elevated, almost otherworldly. That shows up a lot through avant-garde, crystal-inspired fashion and environments.

SVS:

How would you define your art style in your own words?

JUUJUUMAMA:

Painterly, expressive, and layered.

A lot of people recognize my work through the crystal textures and surreal compositions, whether it’s fashion, objects, or environments. I also work heavily in digital collage and AI-driven painting, but I keep it raw, I don’t manipulate the outputs. What you see is created fully through AI, and I’m proud of that.

SVS:

How did you discover NFTs, and what made you decide to participate in the space?

JUUJUUMAMA:

NFTs were introduced to me by someone close to me who saw how I was selling crystals through my store, Good Juu Juu. They suggested I create crystal NFTs, and that turned into a collection where holders get a lifetime discount on my physical crystals.

That was my first real understanding of NFTs as something tangible and useful, not just digital. From there, I started sharing my art, and people really connected with it, which pulled me deeper into the space.

SVS:

WOW! Are you serious? That is such a cool name for a store, and that makes sense now especially with all your crystal inspired artwork. I think it is also very notable on how you use your NFTs to allow holders to have a lifetime discount at your shop!
What platform(s) do you primarily use to sell your work, and why?

JUUJUUMAMA:

Right now I primarily mint on Zeroone (AVAX) and OBJKT (Tezos). I’ve experimented across a lot of platforms and blockchains, but I’ve found the collector communities on those two to be the most active and engaged with my work lately.

SVS:

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned as an artist so far?

JUUJUUMAMA:

There are always going to be highs and lows. It’s never all good forever, and it’s never all bad forever either.

If you’re building a life around your art, you have to learn how to ride those waves. Stay grounded during the highs and be patient during the lows.

SVS:

You are speaking my language about riding the waves. I love to surf, and I agree even in surfing, it’s not always pumping. Sometimes, there are days where it’s flat, or too windy, or  whatever, but there are days when the conditions are perfect. You just gotta go with the flow!
What advice would you give to artists who are curious about NFTs but hesitant to jump in?

JUUJUUMAMA:

Just try it. You don’t have to overcommit, start small. Spend a few hours a week learning, exploring platforms, and understanding different blockchains.

And most importantly, be active on social media. A lot of discovery happens through connection, not just the platforms themselves.

SVS:

Just for fun! What kind of music do you listen to? And try to pick one genre! Is it the same genre while you are creating?

JUUJUUMAMA:

Afrobeats, but I also love 70s music. That era just feels unmatched, the fashion, the energy, the classics.

I usually create to the same kind of music I listen to day to day. It keeps me in rhythm.

juujuumama’s story is a reminder that art can move between worlds: physical and digital, personal and communal, experimental and useful. Her approach to NFTs, especially connecting them back to her crystal shop, shows how onchain art can be more than a file; It can become part of a larger creative ecosystem.
